It's Simply By Being Honest

I am very blessed to have loyal, loving, and trustworthy friends and loved-ones. I think the topmost secret for this is HONESTY.

We have to be HONEST to OURSELVES. We have to be HONEST to OTHERS by showing who we really are.

If you will ask me, "Do you have a car?", I will answer NO, because I only use my feet and public transportation to go to places where I want to go. I will proudly say, I can have different drivers and vehicles everyday, unlike you!

If you will ask me, "Do you have an Iphone?", I will answer NO, I don't have. My cellphone does not even have a camera. I only have a less than a thousand cellphone because I only use it for its basic purpose, just for calling or texting.

If you will ask me, "Do you have a big house?", I will say NO, I don't have, because I only live in a small place that I don't even own.

If you will ask me, "Are you rich?", I will answer YES, I am. I am rich with people who love and care for me. I have a good mom, a loving husband, adorable kids, caring in-laws, loyal friends, and other things that money can't buy.

I would like to share a story that I heard recently about a teacher who was asked by his student, "Sir, do you have a car?". The teacher answered, "Yes, I have. Just check out my Facebook account.". The student saw the luxury car that the teacher posted and he was surprised. He believed that the teacher really owned the car. After a few weeks, the student discovered that the photo was just uploaded from Google.

The bottom line is, DON'T PRETEND TO BE SOMEONE THAT YOU ARE NOT. Be HONEST...Let people accept you for who you are and not by what you have. In the long run, those people whom you got pretentious with will discover the facade that you created was untrue.

How To Care For Your Jusi Barong

My husband told me that he needed his Barong for his student's graduation. I thought that it was too soon to get his Barong from the storage box not until two days before graduation that I remembered to do that. To my dismay, his old barong was already old looking and yellowish. There were also unwanted creases and perfume marks.

I told him that he should buy a new one. I just bought it from Divisoria a year ago and I got it way much cheaper than the mall price anyway . It was not painful to throw it away. On the lighter note, the store where I bought that barong was the supplier of Onesimus. I am a bargain hunter and Certified Divisoria Girl! :)

So we went to the mall to buy a new one. I was so happy because it was Sale Day and we got a Best Buy Barong for my husband.

When we got home, I immediately removed the tag of the Barong.  Written on the tag was a list of How to Care For Jusi Barong. Wow, the tag was double purpose! Immediately I got my husband's old Barong and follow the tips stated on the tag:

* Dry cleaning may contain chemicals that may make the barong brittle.

* Hand washing is preferred using a mild detergent or bath soap. Do not scrub.

* A Jusi Barong that has turned yellow may be soaked for an hour in diluted vinegar
(1/2 cup to 2 gallons of water). The acid in the vinegar helps remove the yellowish stain.

* Rinse with upward and downward motion. Do not squeeze or twist. Drip dry on hanger.

* Iron the barong while damp or as soon as it is dry.

* To avoid unsightly creases or folds, hang the Barong using a protective covering.

Well, the tips worked! His old Barong looked new again! If only I knew these tips ahead of time, it would save as a lot! But I had no regrets because my husband looked good on his new Barong and he had a spare.

Hope the tips above will help you too. :)

Juicy Fried Hotdogs & Easy Hotdog Recipe

I cooked fried hotdogs last week and my son said, "Thanks, Mom! Ang sarap naman ng hotdogs na 'to!" Sarap ng feeling...  ("Thanks, Mom! These hotdogs taste great!" I felt good...)

It's just simple fried hotdogs but do you know what makes them special? They are not oily and they remain juicy even when they get cold.

Here's my secret. I put a little water and oil on the hotdogs. I let it boil until the water evaporates. Then the little oil does the finishing touch. The hotdogs remain juicy and don't shrink at all.

If you want your hotdogs not just fried and to make it more nutritious and appealing to kids, you may do this recipe:

Ingredients:
1 tsp cooking oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 gloves of garlic, chopped
1 small carrot, slices thinly
10 pcs regular size hotdogs, sliced thinly (I recommend Pure Foods Tender Juicy Hotdog)
1 cup banana catsup
1 tsp parsley, chopped
salt & pepper

Procedure:

Put oil on the pan and saute the chopped onions, garlic, and hotdogs. When the hotdogs are cooked already (light brown) put the sliced carrots and stir. Put a little water for the carrots to cook. Simmer for two minutes then put banana catsup. Simmer until the sauce has reduced. Put salt & pepper to taste.

You may serve it as a rice topping. To make it more colorful and to add more texture, put the chopped parsley upon serving.

Hope you'll try this recipe. It's a big hit for kids and adults! :)
